Terry Winters' art returns us to the life of abstraction on molecular, cosmic and compositional levels. His materials—in this case wood and ink, paper and press—inform his images, often in surprisingly direct fashion. Peter Cole's poem, "Beginning Being an Engine," translates a gathering of Winters' prints into a language where form and color register synesthetically as syntax and sound. At once playful and serious, and itself born of a kind of imprinting, it takes shape as a vehicle of embodiment and extension. Winters' woodblocks and Cole's text combine to produce a singular work, one in which meaning emerges from the meeting of mediums.
